What is security certification?Updated 2 months ago

Security certification means a product has been independently tested to recognised UK standards to confirm it can resist attack and meets police preferred crime-prevention requirements. A key box that does not hold and accreditations or security certifications, it's not suitable for external use.

Police-preferred certifications and accreditations explained

  • Secured by Design (SBD)
A police-backed scheme that identifies products proven to reduce crime. To achieve SBD, a key safe must pass independent security testing and meet strict design and performance standards. SBD products are widely recommended by police, local authorities, and insurers.

  • LPCB / LPS1175 testing
Testing carried out by the Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB), which measures how long a product can resist physical attack using common tools. Products are given a security rating, showing they offer significantly higher protection than non-tested key safes.

How this applies to our key safes

Important note
All security certifications apply only when the key safe is installed correctly on suitable surfaces such as brick, concrete or flat stone, following manufacturer guidance.
