The eSafe AppUpdated 2 months ago
This article contains answers to the main queries that we receive in relation to the app. If you cannot find the answer to your question here please drop us a line to [email protected]
1. How does the app connect via Bluetooth to the device when out of range?
Here’s how the eSafe app works:
Bluetooth Pairing (Initial Setup): During the initial setup, you’ll need to be within Bluetooth range to pair the app with your key safe. This step establishes the connection between the app and the device.
Accessing the Key Safe Outside Bluetooth Range: After pairing, you can still access your key safe remotely, even when you're outside Bluetooth range. The app allows you to request one-time passcodes or offline codes, which are securely stored within the eSafe itself.
Retrieving and Using the Code: When you're outside Bluetooth range, the app can retrieve the stored code and send it to you. You can then provide this code to anyone who needs to access the eSafe. The user will simply need to manually enter the code into the device to gain access, without needing an active Bluetooth connection.
In summary, after the initial Bluetooth pairing, the app can still generate and send access codes remotely, making it easy to manage access even when you’re far away.
2. Can I use the app from outside the UK?
Yes, you can use most functions for your eSafe remotely from anywhere that you have internet access.
You can't advise of a code through the OM connect App, however you can create an offline code, and advise the user through your own means of communication.
3. Can the eSafe be locked/unlocked directly from the app?
Yes, the admin owner and any authorised users can lock/unlock the eSafe from the app without needing to enter a code. You must be in range and connected to the eSafe via Bluetooth.
4. Can I download the app and sign in on multiple devices?
No. The owner must operate the eSafe through the OM Connect app from a single device to which the eSafe has been paired.
If your mobile phone is lost or stolen, then you will need to download the app again but your original account with OM Connect will be recognised and there is a password reset process built into the app.
If you upgrade your phone, then the app and data will transfer like all other apps.
The admin owner will need to go through the Bluetooth 'pairing' process on any new phone to take control of the device.
5. Can I control more than one eSafe from the app?
Yes. You can control more than one eSafe from the app. They can also be at different locations.
However, you can only connect to one at a time.
6. My phone has been stolen, can my eSafe be opened?
If you have paired your eSafe with your phone and are using the OM Connect app then this becomes as secure as your phone settings.
This is the same as most other apps. We strongly recommend using a PIN code or face ID on your phone to prevent unauthorised access to your phone and any apps or content.
